Letter Magnets

If your children are anything like mine, they hate to get rid of old toys. Even the ones that they have obviously outgrown. This was an issue in my house regarding their old VTech letter magnets. Remember those? You would put them in the word builder and it would sound out the letters or words for you. They still liked to write things with the letters to each other but I didn't like having "baby" magnets on my fridge any longer. So we compromised. They passed their VTech magnets down to a younger cousin, and we replaced them with these more grown up magnets. As an added bonus, we also got to spend an afternoon together making them.

Materials

1. Clear glass beads, preferably flat on one side.
2. Magnets. I bought little round ones but the strip that you can cut yourself to different lengths would work just as well.
3. Old magazines or newspapers
4. Glue that dries clear.

Step 1: Cut out the letters you want to use. We had a goal of every letter of the alphabet to start out with. We have gone back and made more of certain letters that are used more.

Step 2: Glue the letters onto the flat side of the bead so that you can see it through the raised side.

Step 3: Glue a magnet to the back of the bead.

Step 4: Wait for them to dry and Enjoy!
